The contents of the home page can vary user to user. What you will see will be based on your security permissions. For example, if you do not have access to work with plans or students, then all you will see will be the roadmap administration panel.

Comments & Requests

Comments

When a student adds a comment you will receive an email notifying you that a new comment has been created. You will also see a count of all new comments created by user since you last logged in to u.direct.

To determine who to notify that a student has left a comment, u.direct will look for:
1. A direct advisor-advisee relationship.
2. If #1 doesn't exist, u.direct will notify users in a group your school has configured as a backup incase none of the above criteria are met.

Plan Approval Requests

When students are building their plans they have the option to request that their plan, or a specific term, be approved and locked down. When those requests are made, an email is sent to the appropriate person and the request has been added to their queue.

To determine who to notify that a student has requested plan approval, u.direct will look for:
1. A direct advisor-advisee relationship.
2. If #1 doesn't exist, u.direct will look for any user who has permission to approve plan who have a domain that includes the roadmap.

A domain is a specific University-College-Major-Degree setting established via security. Not all schools have domains established.

3. If #2 doesn't exist, u.direct will look for any user who has permission to approve plans, with no domain check.
4. If #4 doesn't exist, u.direct will notify users in a group your school has configured as a backup in case none of the above criteria are met.

Once the request has been acted on, whether it be accepted or denied, the student and any other advisors will be notified via email and the request will be removed from the queue.

Roadmap Publication Requests

When building roadmaps, a roadmap builder has the option to send the roadmap for review before publication. When that request is made, an email is sent to the appropriate person and the request has been added to their queue.

To determine who to notify, u.direct will look for:
1. Any user who has permission to publish roadmaps within the domain of the specific program being used to build the roadmap.

A domain is a specific University-College-Major-Degree setting established via security. Not all schools have domains established.

2. If #1 doesn't exist, u.direct will look for any user(s) who have permission to publish roadmaps, regardless of domain.
3. If #2 doesn't exist, u.direct will notify users in a group configured by your school as a backup in case none of the above criteria are met.

Once the request has been acted on, whether it be accepted or denied, the roadmap builder and any other publishers will be notified via email and the request will be removed from the queue.

My Students

Here you can search for students to view their plans. If you have specific advisees, they will be listed in a table below.

Roadmap Administration

This will list the last five roadmaps you have worked on. If you have this option on the home page it means you have permission to build/edit/publish roadmaps. Users who can only view roadmaps will not see this section on their homepage.

Clicking the name of the roadmap will open it in audit and roadmap view.

My Recent Plans

This section, along with the Recently Referenced Roadmaps, are considered "student" functionality. Any plans you create in this section are YOUR plans and not the plans of a student. If you want to view plans created by/for a student, see the Student Advising section.

Clicking the name of the plan will open it in roadmap and plan view.
